Did you know the beloved Rogers and Hammerstein musical “The
King and I” was based on a true story? And that in 1999 they made a
live action, epic historical drama about said true story? And that
the movie based on the true story starred Jodie Foster and Chow
Yun-Fat? And that this obvious Oscar play based on a true story was
only nominated for two minor Oscars? And that the true story had no
songs and a ritual beheading? And that the Thai government banned
the filming of the true story movie in Thailand because it probably
wasn’t true?!
